Special CoverageN242454441 Momentary Rear Wheel Lock-Up

Hey there, fellow truck owners!

I just wanted to give you the heads up on a new special coverage policy from GM that you might want to know about, especially if you're driving one of those diesel beasts like I am. Here's the scoop:

What's the Deal with Special Coverage N242454441?

GM has rolled out a special coverage for us because there's been an issue with some of our trucks and SUVs where the transmission control valve might be wearing out. This can lead to some pretty harsh shifting, your service engine light going off, reduced performance, or even throwing a P0747 diagnostic trouble code. Not exactly what you want when you're towing or just cruising around.

Which Models are Covered?

This applies to:

  • 2021 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV

  • 2020-2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2500, 3500

  • 2021 Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe

  • 2020-2022 GMC Sierra 1500, 2500, 3500

  • 2021 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL

So, if you've got one of these, listen up.

What Does This Coverage Offer?

GM is stepping up by offering to fix this issue for free. They're giving us a solid 15 years or 150,000 miles (whichever comes first) from when the vehicle was first put into service to get this sorted. And here's the best part - no matter who owns the truck at this point, you're covered.

How Do We Get This Fixed?

If your truck is showing signs of this problem or you just want to make sure, head to your local GM dealer. They'll check if your ride is on the list in the GM Global Warranty Management system (check the Applicable Warranties section). If it's there, they'll install a new control valve body at no cost to you.

What If I Already Paid for Repairs?

Good news for those who've already shelled out cash for this repair. If you've paid for it on or after November 26, 2024, you can claim reimbursement. GM wants to make it right for us. Just follow the procedure they've laid out. But remember, this reimbursement is just for us owners or lessees, not for any third parties like service contract providers.

How to Proceed:

  • Check Your Vehicle: Confirm your truck is involved by checking the GM warranty management system or talking to your dealer.

  • Schedule Service: Book your vehicle in for the repair. It's all on GM's dime, so why wait?

  • Reimbursement: If you've already paid, gather your receipts and follow the instructions for getting your money back.

This special coverage is all about keeping us on the road safely and happily with our trucks. So, let's take advantage of it, get our vehicles fixed up, and keep enjoying the ride.

Stay safe out there, and let's keep our trucks rolling strong!
